MW is power at that moment; $/MWh is the wholesale spot price, not the cost of the flow. AEMO 5-minute dispatch since 2018, up to 30 days at a time. Arrows point the way power flows; their thickness is the flow and their colour how close the link runs to its limit (green < 70% ≤ amber < 90% ≤ red). Regions are shaded by their price in that interval. Bubbles are the generating units, sized by their output in that interval and coloured by fuel; a ring is a unit charging (batteries, pumped hydro). The dark side of the map is night at that interval, from the sun's position (with dusk and dawn shaded lighter). In each link's small chart the band is the link's import–export limit and the line the flow, positive from the first region in the name to the second. Hover a small chart to move the map; Play steps through the range.
Rooftop solar is included, per region, from 6 March 2018, as one unit per region (ROOFTOP_QLD1 and so on: not in the map or the unit count). It is not metered: AEMO estimates it every half hour, and the 5-minute values are a straight line between two estimates. An interval is shown once both the units and rooftop have it, so the newest one is 30 to 60 minutes old. Deselect "Rooftop solar" in the fuel filter for the utility-scale picture. Renewables = solar, wind, hydro and bioenergy; batteries ("Grid") are storage and count on neither side. Capture price = generation-weighted price the fuel earned in its region (5-minute prices for ranges up to 30 days, daily averages beyond). Capacity factor = energy / (registered capacity × hours), over units that generated in the range. Net exports = AEMO's net interconnector flow out of each region. Beyond 30 days the price heatmap and the average day are hourly, over the whole months the range touches. The dashed Demand line on the generation chart is AEMO's operational demand plus the rooftop solar in the stack (operational demand alone leaves out what rooftop supplies); with a region selected, the gap between it and the stack is roughly that region's net exports. Batteries: the average day of the battery fleet, output above the axis and charging below, with the price it saw; "bought" and "sold" are the prices weighted by the energy charged and discharged (5-minute ranges only, since a day's total nets one against the other). Who generated it: energy by owner and power station, coloured by fuel; click an owner to zoom in. Curtailment: what the wind and solar farms AEMO dispatches as semi-scheduled could have made and were not dispatched for (available MW less the dispatch target, each 5 minutes), whether for network limits or economic spill at low prices. Per farm it comes from the next-day files, so it ends a day or two ago; the days after come from AEMO's regional figures (lighter bars), which the farms add up to. It leaves out rooftop solar and the small non-scheduled farms. All charts follow the header filters.
One cell per day, over all of the history. This page follows the region filter only: the date range and the other filters don't apply. The records are daily figures (a share or an average over a whole day), not 5-minute peaks. The newest day is still filling and is left out. Click a day or a record to open it on the Dashboard at 5-minute detail.
